Our Story

How we got here

When Matilda was still living in the countryside, Nick spotted her on a mutual friend's Instagram story and said "who's that? I want to meet her". As soon as Matilda was back in London, he took her out to a fancy dinner at Zuma, where sparks flew after one too many cocktails. By the third date we were obsessed with each other, and after three months of dating we moved in together.

Nick popped the question in Santorini after about a year and a half together. It was the most romantic and special moment of both our lives.

Travel & Stay

Getting to Crete

We can't wait to show you our corner of Crete. We both have a strong connection to the island: Nick has lived there and Matilda has spent countless summers there.

If you're coming for a longer holiday and want to explore, Balos Lagoon and Elafonissi Beach are two must-visit places. Maldives vibes.

Getting there

Fly into Chania International Airport (CHQ). Agia Marina is roughly a 25-30 minute taxi from the airport.

No hire car needed for the wedding itself: free transport will run from Agia Marina to the venue and back. A car is only worth it if you want to explore (Balos, Elafonissi and beyond).

Where to stay

We recommend everyone stays in Agia Marina, a beach town just west of Chania. It's where the wedding transport will pick up and drop off, it has a long sandy beach, and plenty of tavernas and bars for the weekend.

The places below are just suggestions to get you started - there are lots of other lovely hotels, apartments and villas in and around Agia Marina, so book wherever suits you best.

What you'll find here: ancient olive groves, Mediterranean wildflowers, and the warm Cretan afternoon light.

5:00 pm · Cocktail hour & nibbles

Celebrate with us over drinks and delicious nibbles as the golden hour light washes over the estate. Mingle, laugh, and soak in the magic of the Cretan evening.

7:00 pm · Dinner, speeches & first dance

Dinner under soft fairy lights, with heartfelt speeches and our first dance as husband and wife. A warm, intimate atmosphere that feels both magical and relaxed - celebrating entirely outdoors, just as we always imagined.

10:00 pm · The party starts

The dancing begins! Join us on the floor as we celebrate into the night under the stars. This is the moment we've been waiting for - let's make it unforgettable.

1am / 2am / 3am · Home time

There will be three waves of departures from the venue, with coaches back to Agia Marina at 1am, 2am and 3am. Let us know your preferred wave on your RSVP - and don't worry, you can always change your mind on the night.

Getting here

Transport pick-up is at 3pm. If you're hiring a car or making your own way, Cambos Estate is located in Chania, Crete, and we'll share full directions closer to the date.

Dress code

Summer formal. Think linen suits and gorgeous dresses. Colour very much encouraged - dress for a warm evening under the olive trees. The whole day is outdoors on grass and gravel, so block heels, wedges or flats will treat you far better than stilettos. Days are hot, evenings stay warm, but a light layer for later never hurts.

Gifts

Your presence is present enough, truly. But if you'd like to give something, a contribution towards our honeymoon would mean the world.

FAQ

Good questions

How do I get to Crete?

Fly into Chania (CHQ). There are direct flights from most major UK and European airports in summer. Agia Marina is about 25-30 minutes from the airport by taxi.

Where should we stay?

Agia Marina. All wedding transport runs from there, and it's a lovely beach town in its own right. See Travel & Stay above for suggestions.

How do we get to the venue?

We've got you covered. Free coaches will pick up from Agia Marina at 3pm sharp on the day, and return coaches run in three waves at 1am, 2am and 3am, dropping you back at the same spot. Pick your preferred wave on your RSVP. The exact pick-up point will be confirmed closer to the date. If you're hiring a car or making your own way, we'll share full directions closer to the time.

Is the wedding outdoors?

Entirely. Ceremony among the olive trees, dinner and dancing under fairy lights. Sunglasses at the ceremony are completely acceptable.

What will the weather be like?

Late August in Crete is reliably hot and dry: around 28-30°C in the day and warm into the evening.

Can we bring our children?

We love your kids, but the wedding day itself is adults only - we want you to have a proper night off. Children are very welcome at the Friday welcome drinks and the Sunday pool party, so do bring them along to those.

Can I bring a plus one?

Invitations are limited to the named guest(s) on your invite - sadly we can't accommodate additional guests, as much as we'd love to celebrate with everyone.

When do I need to RSVP by?

By 1st May 2027, please. It's a destination wedding, so we need numbers early to plan properly.

What about Friday and Sunday?

Come to everything! Welcome drinks on Friday from 7pm to 10pm, and a pool party on Sunday from 2pm until late. Both will be walkable from Agia Marina, with exact locations shared closer to the time. Children welcome at both.

I have another question.
